UK weather maps turn orange as 'Iberian plume' to bring 18C heatwave in days
The UK is set to be hit by a blast of warm air from the Iberian Peninsula in the coming days, with temperatures expected to hit 18C - but the Met Office has warned it might not last long
by Adam Cailler, Aditi Rane · The MirrorBrits are in for a warm surprise this November as a wave of balmy air from the Iberian Peninsula is set to sweep across the UK.
With temperatures predicted to reach up to 18C, Netweather's forecasts show a UK map awash with hues of orange and yellow, indicating that parts of the south could see temperatures of 17-18C, while even Scotland and the north will enjoy an unseasonably warm 10-15C.
The temperature maps are a vibrant mix of green and yellow, predicting a cosy 14-18C for most areas in England and Wales by Tuesday, November 5, peaking at a toasty 18C in the southern hot spots. However, meteorologists caution that this current warm spell may be short-lived, with a cold snap expected by mid-November, according to the Express.
The Met Office's long-range forecast from November 4 to November 13 suggests: "High pressure is likely to dominate the weather across many parts of the UK during this period. This will mean plenty of dry and settled weather for most, although it may be fairly cloudy at times," reports the Daily Star.
"Where skies clear overnight some areas of fog and frost are likely to develop. Southern areas are expected to be mainly dry during this period, while any more unsettled conditions and periods of rain are more likely to affect areas further north, particularly the north and northwest of Scotland."
"Winds will likely be light in the south, but there could be some spells of strong winds across the north and west. Temperatures will probably be close to normal overall, although some cold nights are possible at times."
