Ireland weather: Met Eireann in eerie last minute Halloween forecast change that's sure to frighten some

Thursday evening is set to be a mild and largely dry affair for most of Ireland but the big update that is certain to amplify the Halloween excitement is that mist will develop now too.
The average temperature for Ireland in the month of October is approximately 11°C but parts of the country are set for highs of up to 15°C and 16°C on Thursday night.

The latest update on the official Met Eireann website reads: "Tonight [Thursday] will be cloudy and dry for most with just a few patches of light rain and drizzle. Some patches of mist will develop too. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees in a light southwesterly breeze."
Ireland weather expert, Alan O'Reilly, of Carlow Weather told his followers on X that tonight is not just expected to be dry but the milder weather is "good for the heating bills".
"Another cloudy and mild morning but mainly dry today with just some patchy drizzle for some. The airmass forecast here shows how colder air moves into Eastern Europe but we stay under the milder airmass. Good for the heating bills at least," he said
Met Eireann national forecast:
Tonight: will be cloudy and dry for most with just a few patches of light rain and drizzle. Some patches of mist will develop too. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees in a light southwesterly breeze.
Friday: will stay mainly dry and cloudy with limited bright spells. However, once again, there will be a few patches of light rain and drizzle. Highest temperatures of 12 to 14 degrees in a light variable breeze.
Overview: High pressure will continue to dominate through the outlook period bringing generally mild and settled weather.
Friday night will be mainly dry and mostly cloudy. A few mist and fog patches may develop. Lowest temperatures of 6 to 10 degrees with light variable breezes.
Saturday will be largely dry and mostly cloudy. There may be a few patches of drizzle and also a few sunny breaks. Highest temperatures of 13 to 15 degrees, with light south to southeast or variable breezes. Saturday night will bring a mix of cloud and clear spells, along with occasional drizzle. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees in light mainly southeast breezes.
Sunday will continue mainly dry and mostly cloudy. A few spots of drizzle are possible. Some sunny breaks may develop too. Highest temperatures 12 to 15 degrees with light to moderate southeast breezes.
Monday will be mainly dry and mostly cloudy with highest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees and light southeast breezes.
At the moment it looks like Tuesday will start off dry, but that outbreaks of rain will move in from the southwest later in the day.
