Prince William’s star-studded Earthshot Prize Awards only days away
by Jessica Storoschuk · Royal CentralThe Prince of Wales is preparing to fly to South Africa this week for a major Earthshot event in Cape Town.
Prince William will be attending the fourth annual Earthshot Prize Awards ceremony on Wednesday, 6 November during Earthshot Week (4 to 7 November).
Five of the finalists will be chosen to win the £1 million award in their category to help accelerate their project.
The ceremony hosts and performers have been announced. South African presenter Bonang Matheba and Broadway, film, will be joined by theatre actor Billy Porter.
The Grammy, Emmy, and Tony winner shared his excitement at hosting the awards: It’s an honor to co-host this year’s Earthshot Prize Awards and help to celebrate this year’s inspiring innovators working to create a better future for everyone… I can’t wait to be part of an evening that celebrates creativity, human ingenuity, and artistry in all its different forms
The ceremony will include performances and storytelling that represent East, West, Northern, Southern, and South Africa. Performers announced include Davido, Diamond Platnumz, Lebo M, the Ndlovu Youth Choir, and Uncle Waffles.
Australian conservationist Robert Irwin and actor and humanitarian Nomzamo Mbatha will be hosting Earthshot Week. They will host different events and panels throughout the week.
The Princess of Wales is not expected to be joining her husband in South Africa as she continues to focus on her health, having completed chemotherapy earlier this autumn.
