Sophie to read bedtime story for CBeebies

by · Royal Central

The Duchess of Edinburgh will read the CBeebies bedtime story on World Sight Day.

Sophie, who has made eye care and health one of her main focuses, will share the tale, Specs for Rex, written by Yasmin Ismail.

The story is about a little lion who gets new glasses and follows him as he learns to love them.

And the Duchess shows her own specs off proudly as she reads the book.

The theme for this year’s World Sight Day is getting children to be comfortable and proud of wearing their glasses.

Sophie is an ambassador for the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness, an alliance for the eye health sector around the world which works in over 100 countries to ensure everyone has access to health care.

The CBeebies bed time story always features someone famous reading a tale as the station closes for the evening. The Princess of Wales has previously read a story on the channel.
