BBC Strictly Come Dancing has been slammed by viewers after it "broke from tradition" at the beginning of Saturday night's show. Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman were back hosting the live show from 6.15pm on Saturday night.

But Tess and Claudia weren't given a grand entrance during the programme, which fans took umbrage with on September 28. During the programme, Strictly Come Dancing fans have become accustomed to seeing Tess and Claudia wander down the famous steps.

But not tonight. Heading over to X, one fan said: "No grand entrance?? #Strictly." And a second typed on social media : "Tess and Claudia need to to walk on it looks stupid how they are both stood there without any entrance."

And another commented: "No entrance from Claud & Tess for the first time." While another typed : "Are we that tight for time that we can't fit in Tess and Claudia coming down the stairs? I'd rather bin off the judges' entrance."

And another wrote: "This opening feels really rushed…" Olympian Tom Dean kicked off week two of Strictly with an energetic cha cha with professional partner Nadiya Bychkova. Head judge Shirley Ballas praised the gold medallist swimmer for being a “good student” as he took her note to stand up straighter, and said she was “very pleased” with him.

Fellow judge Anton Du Beke said he felt Dean shifts between being “really dynamic and a little bit hesitant”, and felt if he stays more on the former side he will be on his way to gold. But judge Craig Revel Horwood felt Dean did not look comfortable and “lacked fluidity”.

Morning Live’s Dr Punam Krishan brought the “sass” to her foxtrot to Shania Twain’s hit Man! I Feel Like A Woman! with her professional partner Gorka Marquez as the second performance of the night.
