Great British Bake Off's Prue Leith says 'I'm near the end' in candid admission

The Great British Bake Off's Prue Leith has revealed that she's 'near the end' after laying out plans for the future.

Speaking to Bella magazine, the judge of the hit BBC baking show opened up on her life and plans for the future as she said: "Because I’m so near the end, I’m a bit more reckless now. What’s the worst that can happen?"

Taking more risks as she gets older, the 84-year-old says she is taking a 'why not?' approach to her life at the moment: "If I was about to try to get a job on Bake Off I probably wouldn't walk down a catwalk in Latex with goth make-up on, but now it's too late. If I want to do it and it sounds like good fun I just think, 'why not?''"

In September this year, Prue swapped her usual floral attire for an entirely different 'goth' look as she graced a catwalk for fashion designers Vin + Omi during their show at London Fashion Week.

And, writing in the Telegraph shortly after the event, she explained how she found her first steps into the world of fashion: "Two days ago, I got dressed, well, barely dressed, in a skintight black latex number held together with corset-style red cord. I was here to march down a catwalk in front of 500 members of the press and public. "

Despite some initial trepidation as she made the 20-metre long walk, she said that she quickly found her stride. She said: "But in spite of all that, I just loved it. The crowd could not have been kinder, whooping and hollering at the gallant old lady (84 and counting) giving it a go. I'm just such an egotist, lapping up the attention."

The Great British Bake Off saw instant success after first airing over 14 years ago, but it wasn't until 2017 that Prue made her debut alongside Paul Hollywood as a judge, after replacing Mary Berry. But, earlier this year, Prue hinted that she is already having thoughts about calling time on her own stay on the show, saying: "So I won't leave in a hurry, but I will leave some time because I'm getting ancient."
