Carol Vorderman has recently opened up about her health fears which prompted her to step down from a major role. The ex-Countdown icon, at 63 years old, quit her radio gig at LBC following a period of work-induced exhaustion that landed her in the hospital.

She’s been grinding non-stop for more years than she can count but ended up needing medical attention for severe tiredness – though fortunately, scans showed no serious health issues. Having learned her lesson, Carol heeded advice from her nearest and dearest, dialing back her schedule to weekdays only.

Bidding farewell to her Sunday LBC show, she expressed her feelings online: "After working 7-day weeks for as long as I can remember, I finally burned out just over 2 weeks ago and I ended up overnight in hospital," explaining further, "Luckily, after many scans and checks, we know that I don't have any underlying health issues whatsoever. So, after a proper talking to from my family and my buddies, I've taken the health scare as a warning sign to slow down slightly and have decided to cut my work back to weekdays for now."

Her decision did not come easy as Carol mentioned: "It pains me to have to do it, but I've decided not to carry on with my Sunday show on @LBC."

Despite feeling 'fed up,' she relished her time on air, describing her experience as 'really lively and a total joy'. To fans voicing their concerns, Carol reassured them this wasn't an outright goodbye to LBC but rather a change in her presence: "The good news is that I'll still be part of the LBC family (they're a good family) from time to time – so stand by for more details.", reports the Mirror.

The presenter shared with their audience, "Meanwhile, I'll continue to cause trouble and carry on tuning into LBC too. Thank you once again for your extraordinary support and to all my new friends at LBC – you've been amazing. I'll be continuing to make a lot of mischief and call out corruption and wrongdoing – that isn't stopping but for now an ever so slightly less frenetic chapter begins."

Followers were quick to comment with their good wishes; one advises: "Be kind to yourself. Rest up recharged and keep up the good work," while another emphatically said: "Please take very good care of yourself; you are a national treasure , the Right-wing wouldn't agree but F**k them! " One fan highlighted the importance of health too: "Yes Carol, your health is your wealth, and we all only realise this when we have a scare."
