The moment Liam Payne’s dad noticed life had changed forever when the singer, from Wolverhampton, jetted off with One Direction has resurfaced online. Geoff can be seen recalling how Liam had 'gone' as he headed across the world on tour.

In throwback footage, Liam's dad discussed seeing his son’s success with the group following their formation. In a clip from One Direction’s 2013 film This Is Us, his proud father opened up about missing Liam as his music career really took off.

“I don’t think we get to see him enough. There’s a lot said about the mum’s spirit and feeling. But dads do feel it as well, especially at 17, you’d like to have that son around you,” he said. “All I had to offer him was to take him drinking and playing snooker.

"I didn’t really have an awful lot to offer him, but that’s part of your establishment as a young man, and that time went. I’ve missed it. I’ve missed it.” He added: “He’s the only fella in the family, he’s gone.” It comes as One Direction star Louis Tomlinson’s sister Lottie has paid an emotional tribute to his old band mate Liam who died last week.

She said: “Home with a heavy heart. RIP Liam. You were loved by so many and will be so greatly missed. Sending so much love to everyone.” Liam's ’s struggles with fame and mental health have come to light, with footage from his The Diary of a CEO podcast in 2021 resurfacing.

During the interview, Liam admitted to struggling to cope with the pressures of fame, saying: "I was worried how far my rock bottom was going to be. Where’s rock bottom for me? And you would never have seen it. I’m very good at hiding it."

Liam confessed: "I don’t even know if I’ve hit it yet. I can either make that choice now and pick my last moment as my rock bottom or I can make a whole new low."
