BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Chris McCausland's 'downfall' exposed as he's 'terrified of something'
by Isabelle Bates, https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/authors/isabelle-bates/, Leah Stanfield · Birmingham LiveStrictly Come Dancing's Chris McCausland, the show's first blind contestant and current favourite to win, has sparked concerns about his potential exit from the BBC competition due to his lack of confidence. Body language expert Judi James commented: "Unlike most of the other contestants, he doesn't take himself too seriously and clearly underestimates his own popularity with the viewers as well as his own chances of winning."
She added: "When Dianne tells him he's 'doing a great job' his reply is, 'Whatever'. He's an ego-free zone in a show where egos usually only come in XXL size."
Despite his clear respect for the show and hard work on his routines, Chris still worries about how his dances will turn out.

However, his "self-effacing approach" and "lack of cheese" have endeared him to viewers. Judi continued: "Chris has single-handedly brought the blast of down-to-earth honesty the show needed. While long-term fans of the show can almost recite the pre-loved lines the celebs are going to use before they say them, like 'I've found a friend for life' or 'I'm doing it for my nan' etc, Chris's interjections have been genuinely fresh and funny."
She concluded: "Chris will have brought in a whole new raft of fans who would have previously found Strictly an un-cool watch."
According to Coral Bookmakers, Chris is the hot favourite at 1-2 odds to win the Strictly Come Dancing Glitterball trophy, closely followed by Tasha Ghouri at 5-1 and Sarah Hadland trailing with odds of 6-1. Expressing his trepidation about the competition, Chris recently confided his apprehension about dancing a Halloween Samba to Staying Alive: "We've lost four people so far this series, two of them on Sambas. And we've had four dance offs and three of them have had people who've gone on first so the maths is against us this week."
Nonetheless, last weekend saw Dr Punam Krishan and Gorka Marquez leaving the ballroom after competing in a dance off against Shayne Ward and Nancy Xu.
Meanwhile, Shayne is sitting precariously as the 7-4 top pick to be sent packing this coming weekend, edging out Sam Quek who is at 3-1, and JB Gill not far behind with odds of 7-2. Catch the next whirl of dances on Strictly Come Dancing, airing at 6.30pm on BBC One.
