Strictly Come Dancing's popular contestant Chris McCausland has confessed he's 'falling apart' ahead of Saturday's performance due to illness. The 47 year old comedian has been a highlight of this year's contest, consistently impressing the judges with his moves alongside partner Dianne Buswell.

They duo impressed judges and viewers at home last week as they took to the floor with a fun Waynes World performance for Movie Week. However, Chris has revealed this week has been more challenging them as he has been dealing with a severe cold before his fourth dance.

Chris and Dianne are tackling a salsa, but Chris admitted he has been struggling in rehearsals. In an Instagram video, Chris admitted: "I've had a cold. I'm falling apart, but I'm motoring on because I'm a soldier. But we're getting through the dance with the song, all the way through, occasionally better than where it was yesterday."

Dianne humorously suggested that exaggeration might be Chris' strong suit, saying: "Before I even arrived here [for training] you messaged me: "Oh Di. My throat, my nose, my wrist, my big toe...'"

But Chris was adamant he was poorly. He told her: "I was being considerate. I was just to let you know I've got a bug.

"My throat's a bit sore, my nose is bunged up, just letting you know in case you want to wear a helmet."

But despite the illness, Dianne's boyfriend Joe Sugg, fans can expect brillaint things from Chris and Dianne this weekend.

He told his YouTube fans: "Dianne showed me the video so far of the dance routine, first time doing it to music, and when I tell you you're in for a treat this Saturday... Every week I'm more and more amazed I feel like b y your dances." He concluded: "This salsa, you're in for a treat."

Strictly Come Dancing airs at 6.20pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
