Wynne Evans has admitted he is "absolutely heartbroken" after an 'awkward moment' with Katya Jones on Strictly Come Dancing.

The Go Compare star has been at the centre of controversy this weekend after he was seen appearing to put his hand on Katya's waist with her seemingly brushing it off as he goes to do it again. The clip had been picked up by people on social media and shared widely, with Katya later issuing a statement to say she didn't feel uncomfortable.

Today, Wynne appeared on his radio show as usual, where he spoke to the host of the earlier show and admitted he was "heartbroken" by the comments being made, and said he and Katya were "really good friends".

Speaking ahead of his radio show on BBC Radio Wales, he said: "Basically, firstly I want to say I'm absolutely heartbroken about the things that are being said about me in the past day. It's not nice to live in that time.

"Katya and I are really really close and we're really good friends and on Saturday night, we made a stupid joke that went wrong. We thought it was really funny. It has been totally misinterpreted."

He later referenced Katya's statement and apologised if anyone had felt offended by their joke.

"Everything is on Katya's socials, she's explained she doesn't feel uncomfortable and we have a great friendship. I'm sorry if anybody was offended by it. It was a joke. There's no real story really. I feel weird apologising as I don't feel like I've done anything. I misjudged it. If there's a joke, I'm usually at the centre of it. That's basically it and now I just want to keep dancing," he said.

The pair posted a video after the clip went viral, where they apologised for "messing around".

Katya said: "Hello everybody it's Wynne and Katya here. We just wanted to say we were just messing around in the Clauditorium on Saturday night and just want to say sorry. It was a silly joke," with Wynne adding: "Yes sorry."

The caption alongside the post read: "Apologies for this tonight we were just messing around. We really are amazing friends. The high 5's is a running joke. Have a great evening @katyajones."
