Tesco announces its Christmas delivery slots and there's a big change

You'll need to get up early to get the best slots

Tesco has announced its Christmas delivery slots but there's a big change this year. The supermarket giant has introduced thousands of extra slots in the two weeks leading up to Christmas.

In a bid to make it easier for customers to get their Christmas food order this year, Tesco has added 60 more delivery vans to its fleet, boosting capacity for customers as the big day draws closer. Shoppers are urged to sign up to the Delivery Saver plan to secure early access to online slots for the festive period this year.

Unlike Morrisons, which opens its Christmas delivery slots to customers tomorrow, Tesco is making shoppers wait almost a month longer to make their booking.

Tesco bosses have announced that customers who are signed up to an Anytime Delivery Saver plan or Click+Collect plan can get a week’s head start with slots opening this year, with slots opening at 6am on November 5. For all other customers, regular slots will open at 6am on November 12. Apparently, this is a week earlier than last year.

Tom Denyard, Managing Director of Tesco Online, said: “We’re looking forward to helping customers across the UK pick up their family favourites or treat themselves to something special this festive season. As we help customers plan ahead for their Christmas shop this year, we are excited to be providing increased capacity with thousands of extra slots available in the fortnight leading up to Christmas Day."

He said signing up to a Delivery Saver plan would also offer customers festive priority slot bookings.

Tesco has also increased the capacity of its rapid delivery service, Whoosh, with thousands of extra slots available on Christmas Eve this year – meaning customers can shop for last minute essentials or forgotten items for the all-important Christmas Day feast.
