BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Janette Manrara rejects job offer after 'snapping' at Aljaz

Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Janette Manrara has revealed she was 'snappy' with her husband and fellow pro Aljaz Skorjanec before she made a major decision

Strictly Come Dancing's Janette Manrara confessed to being "snappy" with her husband Aljaz Skorjanec due to fears of burnout.

The 40-year-old dancer, who recently returned for the latest series of Strictly: It Takes Two and is a mother to one-year-old Lyra Rose, also recently authored her own book.

However, she disclosed feeling as though she was "doing too much", leading her to decline a job offer. This frank revelation came when Monday Mile podcast host Aimee Fuller asked if there were times she felt exhausted and unsure of how to cope.

Janette replied: "It happened recently actually, Aljaz noticed I was being a little snappy with him. Only to him, because I love him more than anyone.

"He noticed I was being a bit on-edge and he asked me 'are you okay? ' Just that question, we don't ask it enough to each other, and like genuinely ask it, not just like 'hey, you alright, you okay' but like really putting your hand on someone and saying 'are you okay' and he did.

"And I was really honest with him and said 'I think I am trying to do too much and I need to say no now'. So there was a job that came in, literally that same day, and I was thinking about whether or not to do it, and when I sat back and listened to my body and brain, I thought I'm going to burn myself out and that's not good either."

Janette reflected on the critical moment she realised she needed to step back and prioritise her wellbeing, especially for her role as a mother to Lyra.

She continued: "Knowing when you get to that point and you need to say no is important. I don't think I'm Superwoman, I can't do it all if I don't rest. And most importantly, I'm not going to be a good mother to Lyra if I'm overworked and overtired. I already don't sleep with her."

The story of Janette and fellow professional dancer Aljaz's love is well known, with the duo getting engaged in 2015 and tying the knot two years later. Janette graced the dance floor as a professional on BBC's beloved series until series 19 before she took up a presenting gig on 'It Takes Two' alongside initially Rylan Clark and then Fleur East.
