BBC Strictly Come Dancing fans say same thing as Wynne Evans gives brief interview with Katya Jones

The pair appeared on the results show and quickly got viewers talking after they apologised for a 'silly inside joke' on the live show where Katya was seen pushing Wynne's hands from around her waist

Strictly Come Dancing fans were left speculating on tension behind the scenes between celebrity Wynne Evans and his dance partner Katya Jones as they appeared on the Sunday night results show. It comes after the pair played down a clip of Katya appearing to push Wynne's hands away from her waist on the live show on Saturday night.

Katya insisted it was a 'very silly inside joke' between the pair after she was also caught on camera not returning a high-five from Wynne. The pair released a video telling fans: "Hello everybody it's Wynne and Katya here. We just wanted to say we were just messing around in the Clauditorium on Saturday night and just want to say sorry. It was a silly joke." Wynne added: "Yes sorry."

But as they appeared on the results show many fans watching along said the atmosphere between the pair was 'awkward' after they were saved from the dance-off and sent through to next week's show. Claudia only briefly addressed the pair, asking if he was shocked to still be in the competition.

Wynne responded: "I am shocked. I didn't think I'd survive week one so to still be here after having done a Tango is really thrilling. "It was such fun and I had such a good time. Thank you to Katya's clever choreography."

Fans took to X to comment, with one writing: "Claudia didn't say much to Wynn and Katya." A second commented: "Oh dear bit awkward innit."

A third said: "Katya with a face like a slapped a*** when Wynne was talking," while a fourth echoed: "Cheers up Katya."

"It's all a bit awkward, isn't it?," asked another fan, while another agreed: "Well that looked awkward."

However, speaking to Mirror Online about the interaction, body language expert Judi James spoke out about the moment Katya brushed Wynne's hand away.

She said: “Katya is [Strictly’s] most skilled masker. When she's been under pressure in past seasons, her already famous smile has widened and her energy levels have increased - rather than dimmed. Bravado and a will to win are her forte. Which is what makes these moments that are very obviously on camera so compelling and odd.”

She added: "As Katya nods and smiles at Claudia, Wynne places a hand on her shoulder while his other inches round her waist. If you were being generous, you might suggest she didn't realise it was him, or that she'd previously spotted him scoffing some green room chocs and didn't want marks on her white dress."
