A Gavin and Stacey star has come out in support of Strictly Come Dancing's Wynne Evans. It follows the pair issuing an apology after an awkward moment during the live show on Saturday night.

The opera singer was seen placing his hands on Katya's waist with her then moving it away. Speaking on social media, Katya clarified: "Hello everybody it's Wynne and Katya here. We just wanted to say we were just messing around in the Clauditorium on Saturday night and just want to say sorry. It was a silly joke."

Wynne chimed in with a simple: "Yes sorry." Actress Joanna Page urged fans to vote for the couple ahead of the results show.

Taking to Instagram, the actress renowned for her role as Stacey in the beloved BBC series posted a picture of the dancing pair and Strictly presenter Tess Daly, accompanied by an encouraging caption: "Vote for @wynneevans and @katyajones ! ! ! ! ! Passionate! Commanding! In character! Go Wynne Go! ! ! #strictly @bbcstrictly @bbc."

In the show, Katya was also seen snubbing a high give from Wynne. Wynne wrote: "Apologies for this tonight we were just messing around. We really are amazing friends. The high 5's is a running joke. Have a great evening @katyajones."

Wynne and Katya had earlier in the night received high scores for their Tango to Money, Money, Money by Abba. They finished second on the leaderboard with 34 points after the judges’ scores.
