BBC Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden's foot has "got worse" as fresh details over her injury emerge. After she was forced to quit the ongoing series of the show, heer spokesperson has spoken out over an update for Strictly Come Dancing fans.

The BBC insider has said that while Amy was desperately upset to have to pull out of the hit show because of her foot, she was expected to make a full recovery within the next few weeks. “Amy is hoping to be able to dance again on Strictly before the end of the series. It is a different injury to the one she had a year ago," the spokesperson said.

"It’s the same foot but a different bone. It’s just terribly bad luck." The spokesperson went on, adding in a statement today (Tuesday): “She did it during training, it was one of those things, nobody’s fault, but it got worse over the next few days."

A Strictly Come Dancing spokesperson said: “Sadly, Amy Dowden MBE will not be partaking in the rest of the competition this year. Whilst Amy focuses on her recovery following a foot injury, fellow professional dancer, Lauren Oakley, will step in as JB’s dance partner. The health and wellbeing of everyone involved in Strictly are always the utmost priority.

"The whole Strictly family sends Amy love and well wishes.” Last year, Amy was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in May last year and underwent a full mastectomy, before having chemotherapy towards the end of 2023.

However, she later reported docs had found a clot on her lung, telling fans sadly: "Unfortunately I've had another nightmare this week." At the start of the year, she admitted: "I feel I was robbed of the year I had planned and reflecting for me makes me upset and angry."

And despite another spell in hospital in February, she still mustered a cheeriness many would struggle for. She told fans: "The sun is shining - and I certainly can't wait for Spring."
