I took my kids to 'luxury' soft play and coffee shop near Sutton Coldfield and we didn't want to leave

LB's Coffee Shop is the perfect meet up point for friends with young children

It's every parents dream - a place where we can sip delicious (hot) coffee, enjoy luxury cakes and pastries, and catch up with our friends uninterrupted by our own small children. Sounds too good to be true really doesn't it?

Sometimes, in my opinion, your standard soft play just doesn't cut it. The coffee is never that great and you spend less time chatting to friends and more time chasing your children around and trying to stop them from getting injured or lost.

When I heard of LB's Coffee Shop though, it sounded just like my kind of place. The cafe at Blackbrook Barns near Sutton Coldfield offers alfresco dining, Silver Tree Bakery cakes and Caffeine Project coffee - and there's a lovely little soft play area which young children can enjoy.

I popped along one Friday, booking in advance, taking my two children - age 3 and 1. Tickets cost £9.95 for 1 child and two adults - and you can stay in the soft play area for 90 minutes.

The first thing I noticed was how cosy the room was - which I really appreciated. It wasn't a huge room where you could lose your child in a second (like your standard soft play).

There were about five or six tables for parents along one side, and the soft play on the other. There was also a gate, which prevented children from being able to leave without their parents.

The soft play area was also just, in general, adorable. It looked high quality, well made, and very aesthetic. But not only that, the children really enjoyed it too. There was a lovely soft space for babies, and also a slide, rope bridge, and areas to climb on for older children.

I ordered an iced caramel latte, which perfectly hit the spot, and got the boys two fruit shoots. We also shared a delicious Silver Tree Bakery chocolate brownie and demolished a couple of really chunky sausage rolls after our play session.

The boys played happily on the equipment while I sipped my latte and chatted to a friend, safe in the knowledge I didn't have to constantly be on high alert.

LB's is definitely a place I'll be going back to. I do think the price to get in is a touch more expensive than your standard soft play, but you're paying for that extra bit of luxury. It's a wonderful treat - and so lovely to enjoy high-quality bakes and coffee at the same time, which come at a reasonable price.
