Tipping Point fans all say same thing as contestant makes 'easy' blunder

Tipping Point was back on our screens on Wednesday, with host Ben Shephard inviting four contestants to take on the machine and bag some cash - but one viewer was left gobsmacked

Viewers were left gobsmacked as a devoted Tipping Point fan botched a string of what appeared to be "simple" questions.

The much-loved ITV quiz show saw Ben Shephard welcome participants ready to dip their toes into the pool of general knowledge in pursuit of winning counters for the arcade-style machine and win a wad of cash.

While Steph managed to ride her luck all the way to the final, Malik found himself in a spot of bother after misjudging two "straightforward" queries back to back.

Under the glare of the studio lights, Malik was quizzed by Ben Shephard in hopes of winning counters and possibly the top prize, only to falter on two occasions, prompting bewilderment amongst the audience on Twitter (X), who were left scratching their heads.

Malik was posed a question concerning a Liverpool band from the 60s known for their chart-toppers but fluffed his lines and did not say The Beatles. Next up, a question on the capital of Greece had him answering with misplaced confidence, as he declared "Rome" instead of the actual answer, "Athens", reports the Mirror.

As the reality hit him, Malik berated himself, though Twitter users didn't hold back, with one pointing out: "'What's the capital of Greece? ' Malik 'Rome'," while another chimed in with: "Rome is a Greek city, is it? #TippingPoint." (sic).

One viewer jokingly tweeted: "Ah yes, that well-known Greek capital city - Rome! #TippingPoint," while another lamented the state of geographical knowledge with: "Oh dear. The lack of geographical knowledge nowadays never ceases to amaze and sadden me. Capital of Greece, Rome #tippingpoint." (sic).

Steph wrapped up her appearance on the show pocketing £3,200 after deciding against taking a further gamble. Currently on maternity leave, she plans to invest in a car since she'll be without her company vehicle once she returns to work.

Despite being invited by host Ben to play out her last three counters out of curiosity, Steph recognised it wouldn't change her outcome and expressed her delight, saying to the host, "I've had an amazing time, thank you, Ben! ".

While warning the audience about the potential risks, host Ben made it clear that Steph could have lost it all if she had decided to risk the last three counters. But it all ended well as she cheerfully departed with her well-earned £3,200 prize money.
