BBC Strictly Come Dancing star Nick Knowles has given an update on his future in the show. The DIY SOS presenter was eliminated from the popular programme after injury plagued his performances.

The 62-year-old struggled with an arm injury in the second week after a mishap while changing a tyre on a care. Then in the third week a knee injury put him out of the episode.

He was finally voted off along with his partner Luba Mushtuk when he took on Shayne Ward and Nancy Xu in the dance-off. Then posting a picture from a hospital bed on Instagram last week the star told how he was left needing surgery for his injury.

Now, after a fan asked if he would return for the final dance, he has said it is unlikely, reports The Sun. The fan asked: “Will you still be able to do the end of series dance in the final. Wouldn’t seem right you not being there.”

Nick replied: “I’m not sure my injuries will allow - I have to wait for the knee operation until the bicep operation has healed so I can use crutches afterwards. So I don’t think recovery will be in time sadly.”

Writing last week Nick told his followers: "Good morning, it's really early on Thursday and I'm heading into hospital to have the first of my two operations. They're going to reattach my bicep, which was the first thing I managed to damage during my time on Strictly. He continued: "Although I didn't do it on Strictly, I did it when I changed a wheel on my car. Really unlucky accident."

He later told fans the first operation was successful adding: "All went well by all accounts so I have a reattached bicep now. Bit of physio for the next 3 months and all shall be right as rain and back to 100% I think so that's one down. And one to go on the knee."
