Body found in search for missing Channel 4 star Katherine Watson

Police had been searching for the missing 50-year-old since she went missing on Thursday lunchtime

Police hunting for a missing Channel 4 reality star say they have found a body. An appeal was launched to find Katherine Watson after she was last seen in Heaton Road in Newcastle at 1pm on Thursday.

They said they were "growing increasingly concerned" for the chaplain, who is also known as Katie. However, on Friday they confirmed a body had been found in the Jesmond Dene area.

Formal identification has yet to take place, but the body is believed to belong to Katherine. Superintendent Darren Adams, of Northumbria Police, said: "This is an incredibly sad outcome and our thoughts are with Katherine's loved ones at this difficult time.

"We will continue to support them in any way we can and we ask that their privacy is respected. Our thanks go to everyone who shared our appeals, provided information and supported our search for Katherine."

Katherine appeared in the Channel 4 TV series Geordie Hospital. It showed her working with people at hospitals in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
