Ex-racing driver-turned-TV presenter Billy Monger has been disqualified from driving after losing control of his car and crashing into three parked vehicles in Surrey. The 25 year old, who lives in Charlwood, pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention.

The incident occurred on January 19, when Monger's Toyota Supra veered off a 30mph road in Limpsfield, hitting a Volkswagen Lupo, a Volkswagen Golf and a Citroen before coming to a stop in a garden after also colliding with a lamppost, wall and hedge.

Monger, who starred in Celebrity Race Across the World last year and is currently training for an Ironman triathlon world championships for Comic Relief, was disqualified from driving for a total of 49 days and was ordered to pay fines and costs totalling £2,694 at Guildford Magistrates' Court, reports Surrey Live.

Investigating officer Rick Scholey said: "Monger was not paying attention when he lost control of his car which resulted in him colliding with three parked cars, causing significant damage to the vehicles before then colliding with a hedge and wall belonging to a nearby house. Thankfully, no one was in the road at the time otherwise this could have had far more serious consequences."

Monger, who is also part of Channel 4's Formula 1 coverage, has been an inspiration to many after overcoming a devastating crash at Donnington Park at the age of 17, which resulted in the loss of both his legs.
