During Thursday's edition of This Morning, Cat Deeley openly expressed her disdain over an unconventional tea-making method.

The discussion arose after Ben Shephard pondered the different approaches to brewing tea. Following the guests' revelations about their preferences, Ben curiously asked if anyone would consider making tea in an air fryer.

As they watched a clip of a woman crafting a brew inside the appliance, Cat couldn't hide her repulsion, exclaiming: "Urgh, it'll smell of chips and salmon."

While the video played out, Ben narrated: "She's put the milk in, she's put the sugar in. She's put in the air fryer for six minutes, which seems longer than it would take to boil the kettle and do it anyway."

Intrigued by the prospect, Juliet Sear was charged with replicating the air fryer tea live, reports the Mirror.

However, Cat didn't shy away from voicing her skepticism, remarking: "This is not right!"

Following the original instructions, Juliet revealed that in the video, the milk was added midway through the process.

Going against this method, she decided to add it at the beginning, prompting Cat to interject as she commented: "Oh controversial!"

Ben admitted the entire thing was making him queasy as the show cut to ads, promising viewers they would sample the concoction upon their return.

Juliet couldn't help but chuckle as she retrieved the beverages from the air fryer, as she said: "The teabags look a bit toasted!"

Nick Ferrari didn't hold back on his observation of the brew's unusual colour, stating: "That looks like the colour of toilet water to me."

The group's unanimous reaction upon tasting was far from positive as they all agreed it wasn't the best.

Cat grimaced, noting the tea was excessively milky, while Ben simply stated: "It's just lukewarm."

Sonia Sodha concluded with a toast to tradition: "Long live the kettle."

While speaking about their cups of tea, Ben confessed how thorough the process was in his household.

He said: "You leave the bag, and you set the timer it has to brew for four minutes exactly. We have a timer on the fridge, so you hit the timer and the bag goes in."

Although Cat said she likes a builder's tea with half a sugar if she feels like an extra treat.

This Morning continues weekdays on ITV from 10am.
