Dr Punam Krishan, a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing, opened up about her experience on the show during Tuesday's episode of Morning Live.

The 41-year-old doctor, who is partnered with professional dancer Gorka Marquez, scored 19 points for their cha cha routine to Kylie Minogue's Love At First Sight.

Reflecting on her first live performance, Dr Punam expressed disbelief as she watched footage of the dance, saying: "It still doesn't feel real, I'm watching that just there going: 'That's me?'"

She also shared a funny 'unseen moment' from the show, revealing: "I had two goals, which were do not fall on your bum and do not forget the routine. So, at the very end, poor Gorka had his hands up there for a high ten and I just went onto the floor, like: 'I nailed it!'"

In addition to discussing her own experiences, Dr Punam also talked about fellow contestant Nick Knowles' recent injury. The DIY SOS star, 62, revealed on the Strictly spin-off It Takes Two that he had injured himself while changing a tyre on the way to a family party to celebrate his birthday.

He explained: "I went to get my 10-year-old son and bring him back to the party but we broke down on the motorway with a flat tyre, and it was raining and there were big lorries going past, so I tried to do it quickly and change the tyre quickly. As I took the tyre off, I basically damaged my bicep and damaged my arm."

Discussing the injury on Tuesday's Morning Live, Nick's fellow Strictly contestant Dr Punam shared her concern, saying: "Oh bless him, it's like an absolute worst nightmare for anyone but he's being strong, he's got all the best care and yes I'm on the end of the phone there if he needs any advice at all but he's been great."

Dr Punam was the fifth celebrity contestant confirmed for the 2024 series of Strictly Come Dancing earlier this year. The Morning Live star is a resident GP on BBC Morning Live and BBC Radio Scotland, reports the Express.

She said of joining Strictly earlier this year: "This still doesn’t feel real, I am overjoyed to be a contestant on this year’s show. I have watched Strictly every year with my family and it feels extra special that it’s the 20th year, I can’t believe I will be the one getting Strictly-fied now. This is so out of my comfort zone, but I’m up for the journey and will give it my absolute all."

BBC Morning Live continues on weekday at 9:30am on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. Meanwhile, Strictly Come Dancing continues this Saturday at 6:15pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
