Wednesday's episode of Good Morning Britain presented a change in its usual line-up.

Normally helmed by Susanna Reid alongside Ed Balls or Richard Madeley, the popular ITV morning show featured the expertise of money-saving specialist Martin Lewis.

Upon welcoming viewers to the programme, Susanna expressed her pleasure at Martin's presence as she commented: "Martin, it's wonderful to have you back in the studio!"

Grinning across at his colleague, Martin quipped: "It's wallet Wednesday."

Susanna went on to inform the audience that Martin wasn't just making a guest appearance; he was there to offer vital advice on dealing with climbing energy bills, reports the Mirror.

Despite having been on only a fortnight earlier, Susanna illuminated the fact that the energy price cap had since escalated by 10%.

Martin acknowledged the unforeseen necessity of his visit by responding: "I wasn't quite sure we'd be doing this but there's a lot that's changed."

The financial guru went on to assist three participants who were invited into the studio, all of whom found themselves at a crossroads about whether to fix their energy contracts following the 10% hike in the price cap.

Taking to a comparison website and working through the maths live, many viewers saw considerable reductions in their upcoming bills as a result of Martin's interventions.

In an exchange with one of the guests, Susanna delved into what had prevented her from addressing her energy concerns before joining the broadcast.

The visitor candidly replied: "Honestly? I am a busy mum of two. I work and if we've survived the day the thought then of going onto my energy site and finding a password that I've forgotten it all just feels like too much."

However, Martin promptly interrupted her to ask about the actual time it took to sort her energy bills.

With a laugh, she confessed: "I have to say, I'm embarrassed at how quick it was. It was less than three minutes for me to get a list of comparisons."

Martin's presence on the show didn't go unnoticed by viewers, with many expressing their delight at seeing him once again co-hosting with Susanna.

Excitement was palpable in another viewer's message: "Wahhhoooo!"

Meanwhile, another added: "Good Morning @susannareid100 @MartinSLewis and all the crew at Television Centre. I'm looking forward to another great Wallet Wednesday show."
