Tesco has introduced thousands of extra slots for food orders in the two weeks leading up to Christmas. The supermarket chain has added 60 more delivery vans to its fleet, which they say will boost capacity for customers.

Tesco is also reminding customers that there is still time to sign up for a Delivery Saver plan and secure early access to online slots for the festive period this year.

Anyone signed up to an Anytime Delivery Saver plan or Click+Collect plan can get a week’s head start with slots opening to this group at 6am on November 5. Slots open for all other customers on November 12 at 6am, which is one week earlier than last year.

The Delivery Saver is Tesco’s subscription-based delivery service designed to help reduce the cost of regular online grocery orders, with a range of plans running for six or 12 months and starting from just £2.49 a month. The plans mean any orders will be delivered to you or available through the Click+Collect service at selected stores.

Tesco has also increased the capacity of its rapid delivery service, Whoosh, with thousands of extra slots available on Christmas Eve this year.

Tom Denyard, managing director of Tesco Online said: “We’re looking forward to helping customers across the UK pick up their family favourites or treat themselves to something special this festive season. As we help customers plan ahead for their Christmas shop this year, we are excited to be providing increased capacity with thousands of extra slots available in the fortnight leading up to Christmas Day.

“And there is no better time to sign up to a convenient Delivery Saver plan and benefit from festive priority slot bookings. Delivery Saver plans not only give you early access to slots this Christmas, but they can also save you an amazing £176 a year on delivery or collection fees.”
