BBC The One Show viewers baffled by Hollywood star's ‘unrecognisable’ appearance

Hollywood actor Billy Bob Thornton sparked conversation just minute into his TV appearance as The One Show viewers claimed he looked ‘unrecognisable’.

During Thursday’s episode, the star appeared on the BBC chat show alongside co-star Jon Hamm as they discussed their latest TV project as they’re set to star in a new series, Landman.

The show takes place in West Texas, where the people who hold the most power and wealth are the billionaires who work to extract oil and sell it. A huge boom in business has occurred, changing the lives of those involved with a greater impact on the country and the wider world.

Bad Santa star Thornton, takes on the role as Tommy Norris, one of the crisis executives of an oil company in the state. Meanwhile co-star Jon, who is best known for his role as Don Draper in the period drama series Mad Men, plays Monty Miller, who has a longtime professional relationship with Tommy.

Speaking to hosts Alex Jones and Clara Amfo ahead of the show premiere, Billy spoke out about the issues his character faces.

Looking at Jon, Billy went on to say: “My character is there to make money for him so there is a lot of pressure to make sure all that comes off, in a very dangerous world so he has the weight of the world on his shoulders.”

He added: “Tommy has a scene of humour thank goodness but there is a lot of pressure all the time and this is about how you get the oil off the ground but it’s also about how it affects all the people around you.”

Throughout the interview viewers watching at home were left distracted by Billy as they went straight to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their reaction on his Billy Bob's appearance, which included a darker, bushier beard and he was wearing a jaunty trilby hat.

One baffled viewer asked: “Why doesn’t Billy Bob Thornton look like Billy Bob Thornton? #TheOneShow.” Another said: “What has Billy Bob done to himself? I would not have recognised him. #TheOneShow.”

A third commented: “So Billy Bob Thornton looks like a cross between Johnny Depp and Charles Manson #theoneshow."

Another asked: “What has Billy Bob come as? #TheOneShow.” Meanwhile another added: “#TheOneShow I thought was Boy George!”
