Married at First Sight UK viewers have been left fuming over the 'rude' mum of the bride as she quizzed groom Nathan about his relationship with Lacey

Married at First Sight UK's Nathan found himself in a sticky situation during the latest episode, as he faced an awkward grilling from his wife Lacey's mum, Maxine. The drama unfolded during the show's 'in-laws week', where family and friends visit the newlyweds.

Tensions were high when Maxine and Lacey's twin sister arrived for dinner at the couple's home. The evening got off to a rocky start when Maxine announced she'd be cooking chicken fajitas, leaving vegetarian Nathan taken aback. Maxine admitted she had "never met a vegetarian" before, leading to further awkwardness.

The conversation then turned to Nathan's relationship with Lacey, with Maxine questioning him about a mix-up on their wedding day. Nathan had mistakenly exclaimed 'wow' when Lacey's twin sister walked down the aisle, thinking it was his bride.

Maxine probed: "You don't fancy Paige then? " Nathan quickly dismissed the suggestion, replying: "She's beautiful but obviously I've created a bond with Lace," reports the Mirror.

Maxine didn't hold back her disapproval, retorting: "You don't say that though. You can't say that. You don't say her twin sister is stunning and beautiful. You just say 'she's nice from what I know of her', especially after what happened."

Nathan later confessed to feeling under pressure after his encounter with Maxine, while she admitted to having doubts about his intentions towards Lacey.

As their conversation concluded, Maxine commented:"He's hard to read and 'doesn't give a lot away." Her attitude left viewers perplexed.

On X, previously known as Twitter, one user expressed: "I don't think I like Lacey's mum, she's just rude. And I think she forgets they've [her and Nathan] just met. Plus how has she never met a vegetarian."

Another added: "#MAFSUK Well done. You've just given Nathan a glimpse of how his potential mother in law behaves. Congratulations on jeopardising your daughter's relationship."

A third shared: "If that was going to be my mother in law I'd leave and never turn back. "A fourth viewer concurred, writing: "Lacey's mum is the MIL from hell... banging on like she's whipped up some Michelin star fajitas... never mind the fact Nathan is vegetarian, and she's offended he won't cut up raw chicken. Run, don't walk."

With another chiming in: "Lacey's mum turns up with chicken for a vegetarian, bombards him with insane questions, has no understanding of ADHD and cries when he jokes about the food having sat there basically eating dust for dinner as she wasn't considerate enough to cater for a veggie."
