Strictly Come Dancing 2024: Wynne Evans dealt crushing blow hours before live show
by Abbie Bray · Wales OnlineStrictly Come Dancing couple Wynne Evans and Katya Jones have been hit with a crushing blow hours before the live show on Saturday.
One celebrity pairing will be sent home on Sunday - and according to the bookmakers' latest odds, it's not looking good for the singer and his dance partner.
Wynne has been given odds of 7/4 of being sent home along with Shayne Wardm who is also at risk of being given the boot.
Betway spokesperson Mike Reading commented: “The battle for Blackpool is really heating up, and this week, punters think Shayne Ward and Wynne Evans have their work cut out if they want to perform at the iconic Tower Ballroom!
"Shayne faces a tough challenge with the Rumba and is the even-money favourite to be eliminated on Sunday evening."
Speaking about who could win the competition, Mike added: “Meanwhile, Chris McCausland remains the odds-on favourite to win the show, but Miranda star Sarah Hadland wowed both judges and viewers with her performance last weekend. We’ve slashed her odds to 9/4, making her a strong contender to take home the Glitterball Trophy.”
Last weekend, Sam Quek and Nikita Kuzmin landed in the bottom two, along with Johannes Radebe and Montell Douglas.
However, after performing their routines again, the judges decided to save Montell, and so Sam was sent home.
Reflecting on her Strictly adventure with host Tess Daly, a disappointed Sam expressed her feelings: "I'm gutted, I just want to say thank you. I've learned so much.
"Strictly has just brought that spring in my step back. It's just been an absolute joy. Nikita, you've been key in helping me find that inner Sam that was there, who went a little bit quiet for maybe one or two years and has just come back. I'm gutted because I do feel like I still have more to give."
Nikita expressed his admiration, saying: "I'm just in awe of this girl. Sometimes they say it's about the journey, not the destination, but to me it's about the company. Sam you are the most wonderful company I could have had."
Sam reflected on their bond: "I'm guilty of watching the competition and thinking 'how do they have that relationship as a celebrity and a dancer?' All I can say is, the time you spend with each other and what you bring out in each other. It really is, and it sounds dead cheesy, magical."
Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday at 6.35pm on BBC One.
