TV star Christine Lampard says she's "blessed" to be able to stand in for Lorraine Kelly but admits the pair rarely meet face to face.

The Northern Irish broadcaster regularly fronts the hugely popular ITV show Lorraine when the 64-year-old is unavailable and is a big hit with fans of the programme.

Speaking to Woman&Home, Christine revealed that she regularly practises her gratitude as she opened up about her "ridiculous" career success.

She said: "If you had told me when I was growing up I'd be doing what I'm doing now, I would have laughed so much. Even now, I find it ridiculous. I love it so much, but it is ridiculous.

"I am naturally grateful and it is something that has been instilled in me. I fully appreciate all the runners on the shows I work on because I was one back in the day.

"It's not even big things I'm grateful for. It can be very small things and that's powerful. I used to have to make an effort to feel thankful but I've got to this lovely point where I don't have to check myself. It's just there, and I'm happier for it."

Christine, who is married to former football player Frank Lampard, also regularly hosts ITV show Loose Women as well as standing in on Lorraine.

The 45-year-old said that she and Lorraine have a fantastic friendship but admitted the two don't cross paths very often.

"Hosting Lorraine is something I always look forward to. I am blessed with the loveliest team, and it’s great to dip in and out, and take the reins for abit," she said.

"Lorraine and I get on brilliantly, although we’re like ships in the night when it comes to the show, so we tend to message a lot. I love the fact she trusts me not to burn the place down while she’s away!"

Lorraine Kelly recently repeated her Masked Singer performance of Kylie Minogue’s Padam Padam while dressed as an owl in a special episode of daytime talk show Lorraine to celebrate her 40th year in television.

The Scottish star was surprised by a brass band and presenters Ranvir Singh and Christine outside her dressing room at the start of the show, and led into the studio where she was surrounded by family and friends wearing T-shirts with her face on.

Speaking about the special episode and an upcoming documentary about her career, the Scottish presenter said: “This is going to be so lovely to show Billy (her granddaughter), when she’s old enough I can do that as well as the documentary tonight.

“I can actually show her, it’ll be like the most amazing photo album, it just feels like it’s gone by in a flash.

“I’ve been so incredibly lucky, because mainly with the people that I work with, all of these incredible people, my great team, it’s a joy to go into work every morning, an absolute joy.”
