Fans of Good Morning Britain were in for a nostalgic treat on Friday when the programme connected with the twin actresses who once played baby Emma in the iconic series Friends.

As Friends gets set to mark its 30th year since it first aired, Good Morning Britain located and interviewed Noelle and Cali Sheldon, the now 22-year-old sisters who portrayed Ross Geller (David Schwimmer) and Rachel Green's (Jennifer Aniston) on-screen daughter on the legendary show.

Chatting with the twins, they reflected on their experience and shared insights into what character Emma might be up to these days. The duo said: "It feels really cool getting to be part of a show that's older than we are, Friends has been part of pop culture and television history since we were babies, I'm really grateful for it."

They envisaged Emma as embodying the best qualities of her on-screen parents, having style yet being studious. Post-interview, presenter Richard Arnold revealed that both sisters had recently graduated from UCLA and were leaning towards careers behind the camera rather than acting, reports the Mirror.

The Sheldon sisters have previously disclosed that they weren't permitted to watch Friends until they reached the age of 13, admitting: "I don't remember anything about being on the show, but I've seen the pictures." Their mother, Gretchen Carpenter, also spoke to Bustle saying: "Everyone was really, really nice to Noelle and Cali, and treated them like little princesses on the set."

Despite shifting their focus away from the camera, the talented pair continued their foray into acting with roles in a number of films and television series after Friends. Their most recent performance was in the 2019 thriller-horror flick Us, where they portrayed Lindsey and Becca Tyler.

It comes as fans of the beloved TV show were left misty-eyed as the show paid tribute to late actor Matthew Perry, who played Chandler Bing, last month.

In a touching tribute to over 12.3 million followers on Instagram, the show’s official Instagram page marked what would have been Matthew’s 55th birthday last month. "On this day, we remember the light that was Matthew Perry," a caption on the post, which has over 544,000 likes, said.

Tributes flooded in through the comment section of the post, with a number of people saying they will miss Chandler Bing, Matthew’s character on Friends. “We gonna miss him forever and ever,” one person wrote.

Another, referencing one of Chandler’s catchphrases, said: “Could we miss him more??” Another wrote: “Our dearest Chan Chan Man”. It is the latest public tribute to the Friends funnyman, who was also known for his roles in the films 17 Again, Fools Rush In and The Whole Nine Yards.

Following his death in October 2023, the show released an Instagram post, which is still the pinned tweet on the account, that read: "We are devastated to learn of Matthew Perry’s passing. He was a true gift to us all. Our heart goes out to his family, loved ones, and all of his fans."

Matthew’s Friends co-stars Jennifer, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David and Matt LeBlanc released a joint statement following his passing last year. They said: "We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family. There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss."

Good Morning Britain continues on weekdays at 6am on both ITV and ITV X.
