Morning Live's Gethin Jones rallies behind 'terrified' Strictly star Dr Punam Krishan

Gethin Jones, Helen Skelton and Jon Kay gave their BBC co-star Dr Punam Krishan a huge shoutout on Breakfast following her second performance on Strictly Come Dancing

Morning Live's Gethin Jones did not hold back in showing his support for colleague Dr Punam Krishan after her dazzling second live performance on Strictly Come Dancing. The show's team, including Helen Skelton and Jon Kay, were all cheers for Dr Punam on the BBC One programme, calling her "brilliant".

When the feed switched over to the BBC Breakfast crew, presenter Jon Kay couldn't contain his excitement: "We're all loving our friend Dr Punam as well, isn't she brilliant on Strictly! " His words led Gethin to share: "She was terrified, but she did brilliantly."

Helen, a former Strictly contestant who finished runner-up in the 2022 series, chimed in: "They're just a top team! We're so grateful that she's got Gorka and he's got her." Bolstered by enthusiasm, Jon added: "Yeah, they're absolutely fantastic, loving it!".

Dr Punam, aged 41 and a regular health expert on Morning Live, is currently cutting up the dance floor on this year's Strictly Come Dancing with Spanish dancing ace Gorka Marquez. The pair have been garnering attention with their performances, particularly their latest on Saturday, 28 September, which set tongues wagging, reports the Mirror.

In their recent performance, Gorka and Punam foxtrotted their way through Shania Twain's classic, 'Man! I Feel Like A Woman!', receiving heaps of praise from viewers. However, what really caught the audience's eye more than the dance itself was Gorka's daring ensemble a black mesh top combined with glossy PVC trousers and dark sunglasses, complementing Dr Punam's sleek black dress adorned with a shirt and tie arrangement.

Fans flocked to Twitter to comment on Gorka's daring outfit, mirroring Shania Twain's iconic style. One thrilled viewer wrote: "Gorka in a kilt and pvc trousers", while another expressed their joy: "Gorka will find any excuse to wear latex and see through shirts and I love that for him (and us)", and a third shared: "There was a dance...? ! ...my eyes were firmly on @gorkamarquez1".

Dr Punam Krishan is among the celebrities competing, with Tasha Ghouri, Chris McCausland, Pete Wicks, Jamie Borthwick, Nick Knowles, Sam Quek also in the mix. Unfortunately, after the latest live show, Olympic swimmer Tom Dean and his dance partner Nadiya Bychkova became the first couple to exit the competition.

In a tense dance-off, Tom and Nadiya performed against Toyah Wilcox and Neil Jones, but it was Toyah and Neil who were saved by the judges' vote. Despite scoring decently in his tango debut and Cha Cha with 23 and 20 points respectively, placing higher than Nick Knowles, Pete Wicks, Punam Krishan, and Paul Merson, Tom couldn't evade elimination.
