McDonald’s has announced the launch of its newest breakfast offering: Mini Hash Browns. The Mini Hash Browns will be available from October 16 in two portions, a five-piece for £1.49 and a sharebox for £2.99 with fifteen Mini Hash Browns.

For a limited time only, Mini Hash Browns will be offered exclusively during breakfast hours (6am-11am), at participating McDonald’s locations.

Hash browns are a type of fried potato dish, typically made from shredded or grated potatoes that are shaped into a patty and fried until crispy. They are a popular breakfast item, especially in the United States and the UK, often served with eggs, bacon, or sausages.

McDonald's started serving hash browns as part of their breakfast menu, which was first introduced in the US in the 1970s. In the UK, McDonald’s breakfast, including hash browns, was rolled out in the early 1980s. McDonald's hash browns have become a popular staple of their breakfast offerings in the UK, typically served alongside items like McMuffins and pancakes.

McDonald’s in the UK changes its menu fairly regularly, with a combination of permanent items, seasonal promotions, and limited-time offers.

  1. Core Menu: The core items (like Big Macs, fries, and McNuggets) rarely change and remain available year-round.
  2. Seasonal & Promotional Items: McDonald's introduces special items or promotions around holidays or particular seasons, like Christmas or summer. For example, they might offer festive burgers or milkshakes during the Christmas season or introduce limited-edition summer items.
  3. Monthly Promotions: McDonald’s often runs rotating promotions such as the “Great Tastes of the World” or “McDonald’s Monopoly,” which feature unique burgers, sides, or desserts for a limited time—usually available for around 4-6 weeks before being swapped out for something new.
  4. McFlurry & Desserts: McFlurry flavors are often rotated, with new or limited-edition flavors introduced every couple of months.
  5. Breakfast Menu: While the breakfast menu stays fairly consistent, they occasionally introduce new items or bring back fan favorites for limited periods.

McDonald's regularly introduces new items to keep the menu fresh and appeal to changing customer preferences, and they also run customer trials for new products to gauge their popularity before a nationwide launch.
