‘Saturday Night Live’: Weekend Update Takes Aim at Diddy’s Legal Troubles, Daniel Day-Lewis’ New Acting Role and More

by · Variety

On “Weekend Update,” hosts Michael Che and Colin Jost took jabs at some of Hollywood’s heaviest hitters, like Oscar winner Daniel Day-Lewis and rapper Diddy.

Che took aim at rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs, who has been accused of sex trafficking and sexual assault. “It was reported that the U.S. added 245,000 new jobs. Unfortunately, they were all ‘Diddy accuser,’” said Che.

“It was announced that Sean ‘P Diddy’ Combs’ sex trafficking case has been assigned to a new judge,” added Che. “[A judge] that Diddy hopes is cool with rapes.” Jost chimed in saying, “it was reported that Diddy once invited Prince Harry and Prince William to one of his parties, but they did not go.”

Jost, poking fun at another member of the royal family’s documented involvement with Jeffrey Epstein, said, “Before Diddy could finish writing the invite, Prince Andrew was there.”

Jost also reported Daniel Day-Lewis’s celebrated return to acting. Day-Lewis is coming out of his seven-year retirement to film a new movie. Jost said, “And you won’t believe it. It’s ‘Shrek 6.’”  The three-time Oscar winner will actually be acting in son Ronan Day-Lewis’ directorial debut. The film is titled “Anemone.”

From jabs at English actors to English businessmen, Che took shots at billionaire Richard Branson’s latest venture. Che reported, “Richard Branson has launched a new free online university for people with dyslexia. You can check it out at ww.wDyslexiacom,” he said with a smirk.
