So, is Grey's Anatomy coming back for season 22?

Ah, it's the most wonderful time of year (no, not Christmas) it's TV season, when brand new episodes of your favorite shows come out every glorious week until the end of the year. Grey's Anatomy is no exception, and with season 21 already kicking off with all your guilty ships back on screen, fans (it's me, hi) are already dying to know how the story will continue. Here's everything we know about Grey's Anatomy returning for season 22. Sure, anything can happen, but 21 seasons makes a renewal seem pretty damn promising.

One can hope! But at the moment, there are no concrete details regarding a Grey's Anatomy return for season 22. Time (as in the sheer length that the show has been running) might be on the cast's side. "The loyalty and love of Grey's Anatomy fans has propelled us into a historic 21st season, and I could not be more grateful," creator Shonda Rhimes told E! News in a statement back in April. I personally would love to keep this history going.

What would season 22 even be about?

Well, if we're to make an educated guess, it will continue looking into the personal and professional lives of the surgical interns, residents, and attending physicians at Seattle's Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) might stick around to narrate the episodes, dramatic events—romantic, medical, or otherwise—will ensue, you know...the usual!

When would season 22 of Grey's Anatomy to come out?

That, unfortunately, is f0r Shonda Rhimes to know and for the rest of us fans to find out at a much later time. FWIW, season 21's renewal was announced in April and made it to television screens five months later in September 2024. By that same logic, expect a potential renewal announcement 7-8 months from now, with the show premiering by late 2025.
