KUCHING (Oct 5): Sarawakian vocal powerhouse Hafiz Suip’s 15-year career journey will take centre stage in his first solo concert in Sarawak, slated for Oct 13 at the Hikmah Exchange Event Centre here.

Hafiz said he was thrilled to finally hold this concert — a long-awaited dream of his — as a token of appreciation to all his fans who supported him throughout his music career.

“This concert, titled ‘Perjalananku’ (My Journey), will truly reflect my personal journey as a singer — my life experiences, achievements and the challenges I’ve faced along the way. I want to share each of these moments with my fans through my performance on this special night.

“As a proud Sarawakian, holding this concert in my homeland means the world to me. After spending 15 years in this industry based in the Peninsula, I feel it’s time to come home to where I truly belong,” he said in a press conference here on Friday.

He believed many have been waiting eagerly for the concert, especially Sarawakian fans who have long asked when he would hold a concert in his hometown.

In this regard, he thanked the organiser, MCF Event, in collaboration with My Creative Ventures Group under the Ministry of Communication and Sarawak Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak as well friends and supporters who helped make the concert a reality.

The concert will be divided into four segments, each with its own storyline, and will feature 14 songs over the course of two hours including hit tracks such as ‘Awan Nano’, ‘Bahagiamu Deritaku’ and ‘Ku Akui’.

“What’s even more exciting is I will be performing my new song ‘Terus Bersinar’ — a piece that holds deep meaning for me and will surely be special for the fans attending.

“I’ll also be performing a duet with the incredibly talented Ernie Zakri, and togther we’ll be singing our popular duet ‘Berakhirlah Pencarianku’. This will be the first time we performing this song live together, so I hope many are looking forward to it,” he shared.

Additionally, he shared he would perform a few classic 70s songs he cherishes, reminiscing about his early days.

The concert will be led by renowned Malaysian music director Dato Acis, with nearly all the musicians involved being Sarawakians.

“This is proof our local talent is indeed world class. We’ve undergone intense and dedicated rehearsals to ensure this concert delivers the best experience for every audience member. I understand fans come with high expectations, and I promise to give my very best in every performance.

“We, as artistes, should be the ones who are approachable — not the other way around. Without our fans, who are we? Who is Hafiz Suip on stage without his supporters. That’s why I do things like this — to create engagement so fans feel close and don’t see me as an untouchable artiste. At the end of the day, I’m just a regular person just like everyone else. I want to have fun, mingle and make meaningful connections — that’s the whole point of the concert,” he said.

Hafiz said he would make sure every song sung, every emotion conveyed and each moment on stage would be unforgettable.

“My hope is to create lasting memories in the hearts of all who attend. Together, we’ll create a night filled with magic and sweet memories,” he added.

Hafiz, who was born in Kuching, is now one of Malaysia’s most celebrated vocalists.

His musical career skyrocketed when he emerged as the winner of Akademi Fantasia Season 7 in 2009 and he has since captured the hearts of listeners with his soulful voice and moving performances.

Known for chart-topping hits such as ‘Awan Nano’ and ‘Bahagiamu Deritaku’, Hafiz has garnered numerous accolades including the prestigious Anugerah Juara Lagu and multiple awards at the Anugerah Industri Musik.
