Groom shares list of banned songs at his wedding – and gets hilarious Olly Murs reaction

After sharing a list of songs and artists banned at his forthcoming wedding, a British pop star responded to rule his own music out of being played on the big day

Everyone has their own musical preferences when it comes to tying the knot.

Whether it be choosing the first dance song, or providing a list of personal tracks for the DJ to get friends and family on the dancefloor afterwards - most of us have the task at some point in our lives. One groom-to-be, however, has gone public with his choices in advance - adamant that a variety of hits won't be blaring out of the speaker system on his big day.

Clearly annoyed by Oasis' dominating the headlines in recent weeks, Harry's first stipulation was to rule out anything by the Gallagher brothers. Several songs followed - many of which are common wedding fare - most notably Robbie Williams' Angels, The Killers' Mr Brightside, and Neil Diamond's Sweet Caroline.

The likes of Queen, Black Eyed Peas and Kings of Leon also suffered Harry's wrath, before he appealed for help in his caption: "I need more suggestions please help Twitter x." One pop star soon joined in the fun himself to hilariously ban his own songs from the occasion.

Olly Murs, who rose to fame as an X Factor contestant in 2009, took to the comments section to declare: "Anything by Olly Murs." It prompted Harry to jokingly respond: "I'll allow troublemaker at my wedding - that's an absolute banger."

Elsewhere, meanwhile, Harry's list divided opinions amongst other X users. "These are the only songs I want played at my wedding," one person penned in a polar opposite. Another cursed: "People who think they’re too edgy for popular songs are not as cool as they think they are."

And a third X user hit out: "I'm sorry but Brightside is a certified banger and guaranteed dance floor filler. Have fun with the dull wedding I guess." Writing in favour of Harry's taste though, a fourth person agreed with the decision to exclude anything Oasis.

"When I was planning my wedding, I had an idea that we would let family and friends perform songs because a lot of them are musicians," he explained. "My ex, being a mutual friend, offered to play Wonderwall at the wedding. That's why she's an ex."

A second penned: "I love this list. These are the same songs that people MURDER at karaoke bars and I hate all of them now." And a third agreed with Harry: "I started reading this expecting to be like 'wow this guy just hates fun' but I actually agree with every single one of these."
