Pop legend Peter Andre will be celebrating 30 years since he famously stripped off for his Mysterious Girl music video next year, but that's not the only big career milestone he's marking. The 51-year-old dad of five has revealed he's landed a big role in a major new TV drama, set to air on Channel 5, and says he "can't wait to get stuck in".

The British-Australian, who's now married to NHS doctor Emily MacDonagh, also told OK! that he's back in the studio working on some new music, three decades after releasing Mysterious Girl, which became an anthem of the decade when it was released on his second album, Natural, in 1996.

"I’ve been talking about new music for so long but I’m happy to announce that I’m finally working on an album. Next year will be 30 years since the release of Mysterious Girl, so the album is to mark that milestone and will be followed by a tour – I’m really looking forward to it. I can’t believe it’s been 30 years," he said.

I still get sent messages from people all around the world listening to Mysterious Girl – it’s got such magic to it. It’s very rarely I say, 'This will be a hit', but I remember listening to this song and just knowing."

But in a slight career shift, he also revealed he's recently signed up to act in a new Channel 5 drama, saying: "I've got a part in a new Channel 5 drama as one of the lead characters, which I’m excited about. I can’t reveal the name of it just yet or give much away, but I start filming next month and can’t wait to get stuck in. Watch this space!"

While he's best known for songs like Mysterious Girl and his 2006 hit A Whole New World, which appeared on the album he recorded with his then wife Katie Price, he's not a total stranger to acting. As well as taking on the roles of Vince Fontaine and Teen Angel in the stage musical version of Grease last year and appearing in Thriller Live, he's also banked credits in a number of TV shows and films.

He voiced Ace in the Thomas and Friends: Big World, Big Adventures! last year, and played Donnie in the 2023 film SnapCatch, which also starred his teenage son Junior Andre and former Hollyoaks star Niamh Blackshaw, who was recently cast in the BBC's Waterloo Road.
