Love Island stars confirm split just two months after leaving ITV villa
A popular Love Island pairing have confirmed they have called time on their relationship just weeks after they left the villa following speculation from fans
by Ayeesha Walsh, Shannon Miller · The MirrorLove Island winners Mimii Ngulube and Josh Oyinsan have confirmed they have split two months after winning the show.
Mimii released a statement on Instagram confirming their break up following fan speculation after the two unfollowed each other on social media. Eagle-eyed fans first noticed the couple had deleted all photos of each other and unfollowed one another online.
Hours later Mimii addressed the split writing: "Hi everyone, I know that a lot of you have been wondering about Josh and I and why we haven't been making appearances. The truth is we have been trying to figure it out since leaving the villa, but unfortunately, things aren't going to work out between us right now.
"I know it's a big disappointment for a lot of you as it is for me too, your support for us hasn't gone unnoticed and I will forever be grateful for it, you guys are the reason we made it to this point. God bless you all."
Josh has yet to release a statement about the split, however, his last post on social media a day ago showed that he has been busy enjoying a holiday with his friends in lavish tropical destination Bermuda. Josh entered the Love Island villa as a bombshell on day 36, later winning the competition alongside Mimii in a landslide victory as they secured 41% of the viewer vote, with Ciaran Davies and Nicole Samuel finishing in second place with 35%.
Despite their success on the show, it seems the couple couldn’t maintain their relationship outside the villa, even though they introduced their families at a joint welcome-home party shortly after leaving the show. Many fans weren’t surprised by the split, as rumours had been circulating since the couple left the villa.
Observers noted that Mimii and Josh were rarely seen together, with some claiming they lacked chemistry. One fan wrote on X: “Everyone surprised Josh & Mimii broke up? It wasn’t obvious they don’t like each other?” However, other fans expressed their shock, with one sharing: “Damn, Mimii and Josh are over?? I can’t lie, I’m very shocked.”
Despite the split, the pair made history as the first Black couple to ever win the UK’s Love Island, triumphing after nine seasons. They beat out Welsh couple Nicole and Ciaran, who many thought deserved the victory due to their strong relationship.
The news leaves fans speculating on what’s next for both reality stars, speculating on their future careers and personal journeys post Love Island, with interest still high in their individual lives after the monumental win.
