Notifications when someone's at your front door, delivery alerts, speaking to visitors if you're not in and an added piece of mind when it comes to security are all features brands including Ring, Eufy, and TP-Link offer when fixed to the outside of customers' houses. A quiet price drop from Ring may convince shoppers to invest in one of these surveillance gadgets.

The all-new Battery Video doorbell is the latest launch from Ring, as the name would suggest the real-time model comes with a boosted battery and hassle-free click installation - as it runs off a rechargeable battery it means no pesky wires either.

Launched only a few months ago it's now been cut to a much cheaper £59.99 price, usually £99.99 it's always a more affordable option (compared to other models) but Amazon's early Prime Big Deal Days 40% discount has made it even better. And, as one of our tech team writers has fixed it to their front door before, there's a few key reasons why we'd recommend it.

The main one is its much simpler installation process as Christopher Harper explains: "Compared to my Ring Video Doorbell Pro, the process is much simpler and faster with fewer moving parts. The box comes with a new push-pin that is simple to install and the doorbell itself snaps into the bracket and appears sturdy, without needing to worry about it coming loose.

"Ring also has a new push-pin tool that comes with a box that allows you to release the doorbell from the bracket. The quick-release battery which you normally get with the doorbell is installed within the device so you can charge the whole thing as one without fiddling with a screw, like I have been forced to do (many times) with my Ring Video Doorbell Pro."

The Battery Video Doorbell also has a 'head-to-toe' view range, so users can see exactly what's happening on their doorstep. Not forgetting there are person and package alert functions too.

Now an Amazon number one bestseller, our reviewer Chris isn't the only person who rates the new edition. As 64% of Amazon shoppers rated the model a full five stars, and its 'great resolution' was one of its main glowing points.

The doorbell can be easily detached to make charging simple and easy

As one recent shopper said: "We have had a ring doorbell for over 2 years and decided to buy the new improved model. It’s great as you can see the person from head to toe, has way better night vision than the previous model."

Another person said: "I love that you can change the detection areas and the ringtone of the doorbell the seasonal sounds are a nice touch as well. It's also good that you can add which Alexa's it makes announcements on. All in all a great product adding peace of mind when out, at work and on holiday."

However, when testing it out for himself our writer Chris did state one disappointing feature with the model: "Sound and audio were great on the Ring doorbell but I did notice the lack of noise cancellation, which is present on the Pro model but again, nothing you can’t live without."

The Ring sale is available on Amazon until October 14, so still a few days for shoppers to think about what model to buy. In between now and that date the Prime retailer is running it's next Prime sale too where shoppers signed up to its membership will get bigger price drops across October 8 and 9.

Anyone scouring for tech deals this October may also want to look at Currys for tablet and phone discounts, while Sky is proving popular thanks to its latest 500Mbps broadband price drop.
