Pete Wicks' 'secret' sexual relationship with TOWIE co-star that went on for years

Reality TV star Pete Wicks' personal life has now attracted renewed interest amid his appearance on the new series of Strictly Come Dancing, which launched recently.

Pete, 36, has been romantically linked to several fellow celebrities over the course of his career, including co-stars from TOWIE. His relationship with Chloe Sims, 42, has also made headlines in recent years.

They were known to be close pals but four years ago Pete announced that they had an on-off sexual relationship. Chloe herself disclosed at the time that the situation had gone on for two years and that it had been a "secret".

That aspect of their relationship was disclosed in a therapy session on TOWIE with Anna Williamson - known for her role on Celebs Go Dating - in scenes that aired in 2020. Pete and Chloe attended it after briefly being estranged.

Asked if their friendship had "ever crossed the line," Pete said: "Yeah, we blurred the lines." Chloe later shared in the session that their sexual relationship had been going on for "about two years" and she said that it had got "messy".

During the session to mend their friendship, Chloe added: "Part of me just thinks it's too far - like I don't know if we can go back. I feel like he wants me to be his friend but I don't know if I can do it." Sharing his thoughts, Pete said: "If we'd have never blurred the lines then we wouldn't be in this position and I would still have my best ... like friend."

Ahead of the episode airing, Pete told the Sun: "We haven't been officially seeing each other but there's definitely been times it's been more than just a friendship. It has been sexual which has now made things very difficult."

He described it as "probably the worst kept secret in TV" and shared at the time that he does "love" Chloe. Pete went on to say that they had "made a mess" of their friendship, saying it's "hard to maintain" when "emotions get involved".

A subsequent episode saw Chloe share her surprise at his admission after having kept the nature of their relationship "secret" previously. She spoke to Pete about the therapy session whilst at an anniversary party for the ITVBe show.

He told her: "Listen, it wasn't supposed to all come out the way it [did]." Chloe replied by saying: "I just can't believe you blurted it out. Like, I know it was a therapy session and you're meant to tell the truth, but it's just like, it's always been our secret and I know people had their thoughts about it, but to confirm it, I was a little bit shocked."

Pete reacted: "I didn't do it for any other reason other than I the fact I think we've both carried it for the past couple of years ourselves and it's not done us much good and I think maybe it needed to be said." He continued: "That way me and you can work past it, rather than trying to keep some little secret from everyone, and everyone making assumptions to things and not understanding how much love and emotion there is between me and you."

It's understood that they decided to remain friends and Chloe said in 2021 that she didn't have any regrets about their history. The following year, she told New! magazine, she said: "We haven't got a friendship or a relationship - not in a bad way, we just went our separate ways."
