Kerry Katona says 'sorry' to Molly-Mae Hague after 'child abuse' claim

Kerry Katona recently opened up about Molly-Mae Hague's break-up with professional boxer Tommy Fury and drew parallels with her own split with Westlife singer Brian McFadden

Kerry Katona has revealed that she's spoken to Molly-Mae Hague about a certain joke she made and has now admitted that she "shouldn't have said that".

Molly-Mae shot to fame after securing second place on Love Island in 2019 with then-boyfriend Tommy Fury, a professional boxer. The couple welcomed a baby daughter, Bambi Fury, in 2023, and were later engaged, but then announced they'd split up in August 2024.

Kerry, who is best known as one of the original members of Atomic Kitten, has weighed in on the break-up, drawing parallels with her own split with Westlife singer Brian McFadden in 2006.

Kerry told Closer magazine: "My first husband was barely there and it's so tough. Molly-Mae was on her own a lot before the split while Tommy was away working, and what's the point of being in a relationship if you're not going to be there for each other?"

She added at a charity gala: "Molly-Mae's got a great support network around her. Being a young mum is really hard, but she's lucky she's a young mum in this day and age - people seem to be so much more understanding around all the struggles.

"When Molly-Mae called her baby Bambi, I joked that it was child abuse! But I didn't think that at all. It's a lovely, lovely name! I told her I shouldn't have said that; I was just trying to be funny! I hope we're friends now."

Kerry and Brian got married in 2002 and have two daughters together, Molly Marie and Lilly-Sue. However, in 2023, Kerry said they no longer have contact now their daughters have grown up.

Speaking to the Mirror, she said: "Obviously first marriage I thought it would last forever, I just went along with it.

"It was just fake, it wasn't real, it wasn't meant to be - it wasn't what I wanted, it was all fake and phoney."

Meanwhile, Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury released statements following the end of their five-year relationship, with the influencer saying she "never imagined our story would end".

However, last month, it was reported that speculation had been mounting that the couple are back together, with rumours they had been spending the night together at their Cheshire mansion as they co-parented their daughter.

In another apparent clue, when Tommy appeared in a video on YouTube, fans noticed that he was wearing a gold promise ring he had before he proposed to Molly-Mae.
