Graham Norton has revealed that a Hollywood actor "refused to sit down" on his hit chat show.

The television host opened up about all aspects of his life as he appeared on Grace Dent's Comfort Eating podcast, including his time living in a San Francisco commune, but it was an anecdote about some of his most famous chat show guests that particularly caught Grace's attention.

Grace was very eager to learn about one specific element of his hit BBC One show, asking about the placement of stars on his sofa and whether any of them expect to be closer to him.

Graham said: "That does happen weirdly, it's our fault really. What we should have done all along was mix it up, so that the biggest star wasn't near to me, but now it is seen as the person sitting next to me is the biggest star on the sofa."

He revealed that there is one huge Hollywood star that still hasn't made it in the much-craved spot next to him, adding: "Which sometimes means that huge stars for whatever reason have never sat next to me. Bradley Cooper has never sat next to me. There has always been someone more famous than him."

Grace probed further, asking 'has anyone ever walked out and just changed seats at the last minute' with the TV host replying: "That has happened once. They walked out together, they were two actors, they walked out together and one of them was supposed to be sitting next to me and the other one just didn't sit down. He just waited."

He jokingly added: "It was quite something to see."

Graham has been a household name for decades thanks to the continuous success of his chat show that first aired on BBC Two in 2007 before switching to BBC One two years later. Since then the show has gone from strength to strength, picking up a number of awards, including the 'British Academy Television Award for Best Entertainment Performance' on three occasions.

The Graham Norton Show is set to return on BBC One tonight (Friday, September 27) for it's 32nd series, with Demi Moore, Lady Gaga, Colin Farrell and Richard Ayoade all set to feature.
