MAFS UK fans let rip at 'average' grooms after fat-phobic comments about their wives

Caspar Todd and Adam Aveling faced a well-deserved backlash after making derogatory comments about their wives, with Caspar delivering one of the worst insults in the show’s history

Married At First Sight UK fans brutally let rip at the show’s “average” grooms after they made “fat” comments about their new wives.

Caspar Todd, 34, stunned his bride Emma Barnes when he told her during Wednesday’s episode that he didn’t find her attractive, and dropped a cruel bombshell on the 31-year-old sales manager as he told her why. “I've been struggling, I don't know if you've felt it. But I haven't felt that spark I was hoping to feel,” he explained, as Emma looked surprised.

He began by telling her that she reminded him too much of his sister, and then delivered one of the worst insults in the show’s history, after Emma asked her new husband what his “usual type” was. “I've rarely gone for the curvier person,” the gardener confessed.

“But you don't think I'm sexy?” Emma asked, as Caspar replied: “No.” Gobsmacked, she asked him: “So you didn't fancy me and you don't fancy me, right?” Caspar did himself no favours as he bluntly replied: “Not currently no, let's be honest.” And he wasn’t the only one to cruelly insult his new bride during Wednesday's episode.

Adam Aveling, 33, complained just seconds after meeting Polly Sellman, 28, that she wasn’t his type, and told her she wasn’t what he’d “been expecting” as they stood at the altar waiting to tie the knot. As Polly heaped compliments on her husband-to-be, he refused to return the gesture, which left wedding guests - and viewers - cringing. “The initial attraction's not 100% there. She's not my usual type. 10 out of 10 for me would be petite, brunette, dark features, tan. She's not what I expected,” Adam stated.

However, MAFS UK fans were not happy with the “below average” grooms, and took to social media to vent their fury over the disgusting remarks. “Too many average looking men in this series with how the women they’ve been given look. I mean that acorn haired dude with the glow in the dark teeth needs to have a good hard look in the mirror,” one fumed.

“Caspar says he’s not attracted to his wife as she’s curvy….he's literally a walking sausage roll of a man,” another added. “It's always the men who look like a walking ball of dough who think they deserve a supermodel of a woman,” one MAFS UK fan fired, as another took aim at the grooms: “There are some pretty average blokes on here expecting supermodels to rock up.”

“How the hell is a size 14 FAT? #MAFSUK absolutely shocking to see a man who isn’t exactly Tom Hardy commenting about weight?! These men are what’s wrong with society. “Not pretty enough” “not slim enough” get the f**k out. Men love curves,” another furious fan chimed in. “Caspar is acting like he’s some ripped gym guy. Like please be humble. Emma is too good for you and you know it sir,” one tweeted.
