Strictly Come Dancing viewers were left doing a double-take this evening thanks to judge Anton Du Beke's special makeover.

The Strictly judge, 59, channelled his inner Blue Steel as he transformed into Adam Sandler's character Derek from the cult classic Zoolander. But fans didn't immediately get the reference - with some convinced Anton was actually dressed as a former Strictly professional.

"I need everyone to know that my mum thought Anton Du Beke was Brendan Cole. #scd #strictly," one fan joked on Twitter (X) as the show kicked off earlier this evening. "I thought Anton was Brendan Cole for a minute," another penned on Instagram, with a third adding: "NOT ANTON AS ZOOLANDER."

Brendan appeared in the first 15 series BBC One's Strictly Come Dancing, until announcing in January 2018 that his contract had not been renewed. In the 2004 debut series of the star-studded BBC show, Brendan's celebrity partner was BBC newsreader and presenter Natasha Kaplinsky, with the pair going on to lift the Glitterball trophy.

Movie Week is missing one star sadly, with DIY SOS star Nick Knowles forced to pull out of the Strictly Come Dancing's second live show on due to an injury. Nick, 62, and his dance partner Luba Mushtuk were due to perform the Charleston to Rain On The Roof from Paddington 2 during the 20th anniversary series’ movie week.

A post to Strictly’s Instagram page on Friday said: "Unfortunately, Nick Knowles sustained an injury during rehearsals and as a result, will not dance this weekend. As per the rules of the competition, Nick and Luba (Mushtuk) will receive a bye through to next week when he is hopefully able to dance again. Everyone at Strictly Come Dancing wishes Nick a speedy recovery."

Strictly professionals sent their love in the comments with Lauren Oakley writing: "Get better soon." The BBC has not disclosed any further details about the injury Knowles sustained during rehearsals. The TV star previously revealed he had damaged his arm and shoulder, but received medical clearance to perform on the show last weekend.

On September 23, two days after the series’ first live show, Nick said in a video that he had been injured while changing a tyre. He later told BBC Strictly spin-off show It Takes Two, while wearing a sling, that he had suffered the "painful" injury on the way to a family party on September 22 to celebrate his birthday.

In a video posted to X, formerly Twitter, ahead of his performance last weekend, Nick said it had been a "tough week" but added he was "very excited" to dance and said his shoulder was "getting stronger every day". Head judge Shirley Ballas said that what Nick and Luba had achieved with only 16 hours of rehearsal time was "absolutely amazing" after they performed an American smooth to Blur’s Parklife.
