The ever-stylish Kate Middleton appeared earlier today in her first public engagement since the end of her chemotherapy, and if you're eager to emulate the Duchess' style, the good news is you can still shop the exact dress she wore while it's in stock online - but you'll need to be quick, it's selling fast.

The Princess of Wales made a surprise visit with Prince William to meet with the families of victims and emergency workers who were caught up in the horrific Southport stabbings. It is understood the engagement was planned as a solo visit for William but Kate decided to join her husband in order to show her support, empathy and compassion for the local community. Read more about their public appearance, here.

The autumnal must-have adorned by Kate is from British high-street retailer, Whistle, and is currently up for grabs with a nifty £50 discount. But sizes are beginning to sell out, so if you want to bag the Princess' burgundy look, you should hurry. If your size has already left the virtual shelves, or you're looking for a similar look on a smaller budget, we've got plenty of alternatives below.

We all know how much Kate loves the polka-dot look, so it's no surprise that her first look back in the public spotlight would feature her go-to pattern. The burgundy midi as seen on Kate is currently retailing for £99 from Whistle, down from its originally larger £149 price tag, though it is worth noting that some sizes have already gone out of stock.

Still available in options 4 to 14, this midi boasts a trapeze style with a layered skirt, that is both simple and elegant. The easy-to-wear piece is the perfect versatile addition to any autumn wardrobe, as it offers a classic and chic style that can seamlessly be dressed up or down to suit a myriad of occasions.

Kate, 42, was seen before the meeting pairing her dress with a longline Alexander McQueen coat, in a chocolate brown shade, that brilliantly matched her autumn-chic look. Also adorning simple heals, Kate completed the look with her go-to 'Gold Fern Drop earrings' from a brand she loves, a London label called Zoraida - you can pick up the Duchess' staple accessories for £165 here - though be quick, unsurprisingly these are also selling out quickly.

To shop similar looks to her Alexander McQueen coat, check out Debenhams' offering of this chocolate brown trench coat for £119. Or, take a look at New Look's budget-friendly alternative at £60.

And if you missed the chance to grab Kate's Spot Print Trapeze Midi Dress from Whistle, or don't fancy splashing too much cash, Roman has some great Polka alternatives that are sure to meet the royal criteria, without the royal budget.

Check out this Chocolate Cotton Blend Polka Dot Midi Dress for £32, though Kate's style inspiration clearly has a knock-on effect as this item is selling fast, too. Or, for a more autumn-weather-appropriate option, check out Roman's Red Geometric Shirt Midi Dress, priced at £42.
