Loose Women's Kaye Adams has opened up about how "empty nest syndrome" left her in tears, feeling like it's the "end of family life".

Kaye, 61, shares two daughters, Bonnie, 18, and Charley, 22, with her long-term partner, tennis coach Ian Campbell. The TV star confessed that she broke down when she saw her daughter packing her bags for university.

"She phoned me - I was coming home from the airport - and she was saying, 'Oh Mum, I can't do my packing'. I was thinking 'for God's sake Bonnie, you've had six weeks to do this, you should be all organised'. I walked upstairs and there she was sitting surrounded by these clothes and suitcases. I looked at her she looked at me, and we both burst out crying", reports the Express.

Speaking on her How To Be 60 podcast, Kaye admitted: "It's bloody difficult. The worst thing is, she's having a really good time.

"She couldn't speak to me the other day because she'd been doing karaoke. The Loose Women presenter, who has been on the show since its inception 25 years ago, previously confessed to being "a wreck" when her eldest daughter Charley also left for university. With both daughters now away from their Glasgow home, Kaye said it feels like the end of an era.

"The house is so tidy, I'm actually walking around trying to trash it," she said. "There's nothing for anyone to do, so it's really going to take a bit of getting used to."

Last week, Kaye opened up further about the tough experience of her youngest moving out of the family home. Speaking on the hit ITV talk show, Kaye said: "Bonnie has gone off to Edinburgh University - she won't thank me for saying that, Charly is now working so she's away as well. Second one out the house is tough, I have to say I am finding it difficult. The place is too tidy, we've got too much milk in the fridge - I don't know how we're going to stop the milk order."

Filled with emotion, she went on: "I'm finding it terrible, I'm finding it hard." Asked how her partner Ian is coping with the change, she said: "He suggested that we go to cooking classes together! I actually looked at him and thought: 'Who are you?!' Bless him, he's trying really hard!"

And she confessed the family shared their "last dinner" together at the beginning of the month. "Bonnie was under the table on her phone the whole time arranging to go out to a club after the last dinner was out the way, thank you very much," Kaye revealed. "For a second, I was annoyed, I thought you could at least try. I was trying to have an emotional last night with her and the family but then I thought: 'Look, I'm going to get you an Uber, you just go now."
