Coleen Rooney only signed up for I’m A Celebrity because Wayne marriage woes were solved

Coleen Rooney is one of the famous faces expected to enter the jungle on the hit ITV show I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! when it returns to TV screens next month

Coleen Rooney reportedly signed up for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! after working out her marriage woes with husband Wayne Rooney.

The couple were childhood sweethearts, and started dating when they were 16, just as Wayne’s football career was about to take off. The lovebirds were catapulted to superstardom thanks to the footballer’s impressive debut for Everton and England as a teenager, and Coleen was the picture-perfect WAG when they tied the knot in 2008.

But their relationship was plagued by rumours of cheating, when it emerged Wayne had visited a brothel in 2002, and paid for services from three sex workers, including a 48-year old grandmother. In 2010, it was reported Wayne had a threesome with sex workers Jennifer Thompson and Helen Wood when Coleen was pregnant with their first child, Kai, and she subsequently moved out of their home.

In 2017, Wayne was in trouble yet again when he was pulled over for drink-driving, but he was behind the wheel of Laura Simpson’s car, as they’d left a nightclub together. Coleen, who was pregnant with the couple’s fourth child at the time, was reportedly furious, but she reconciled with her husband. However, he didn’t stay out of trouble for long, as in 2019, he was seen partying with a woman in Florida, and one month later, was pictured in a hotel lobby in Vancouver following an unknown woman into a lift.

And in 2021, he was pictured asleep at a party with two women in a Manchester hotel room, and was forced to issue a public apology. But Coleen, 38, has remained by Wayne’s side, and according to The Sun, the reason she’s finally signed up to I’m A Celebrity is because she has worked out her trust issues with her husband.

“He’s grown up. He’s definitely changed and Coleen totally trusts him. This is one of the reasons she’s agreed to do the jungle,” the source explained, adding that Wayne’s new role as head coach at Plymouth Argyle has helped him to calm down. “They are more loved-up than ever now and she believes he is focused on being a good dad and husband - as well as a coach,” they added.

Due to the location of his new job, Wayne has been based in Plymouth for most of the week, and has been away from Coleen and their four sons - Kai, 14, Klay, 11, Kit, eight, and six-year-old Cass - who live in the £20million family home in Cheshire. The source claimed that while the long-distance relationship has been “tough”, friends close to the couple have said Coleen completely trusts her formerly wayward husband.
