Hit drama Euphoria has faced major production delays for its forthcoming season and rumours have started swirling that the show is cancelled, now HBO has responded.

The long-awaited season three was announced in 2022, following the drama's second season finale.

Since then, the series has faced drawbacks due to the actors' schedules, the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strikes and the tragic death of cast member Angus Cloud, who played a central character in the show.

Fans have since questioned the status of the beloved series, which has a positive 88% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Now, HBO has fired back at rumours with a simple statement: "Nothing has changed."

A network representative told The Independent in a statement: "Euphoria is going into production in 2025. Nothing has changed.”

Created by Sam Levinson, the teen drama follows Rue Bennett (Zendaya), a high school student who struggles with drug addiction. Rue's friendship group face similar struggles to her, with others tackling toxic relationships, childhood traumas, mental health issues, and coming to terms with their sexualities.

Anyone But You star Sydney Sweeney also stars, alongside Hunter Schafer (as Jules), Jacob Elordi (as Nate), Alexa Demie (as Maddy), Algee Smith ( as Chris), Maude Apatow (as Lexi), Storm Reid (as Gia), Nika King (as Leslie), Austin Abrams (as Ethan) and Colman Domingo (as Ali).

Considering the second season aired over two years ago there have been concerns about the noticeable difference in the actors' appearances.

Earlier this year, Elordi hinted that the series will have a time jump to accommodate the actors. He mentioned on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon: "I hope [filming is] soon, otherwise they're going to have to Benjamin Button me or something. I'm going to have, like, a bad back, walking down the hallway."

He continued: "I'm assuming that we're going to have to go forward [in time]."

Zendaya, who also executive produces the series, recently confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that the new season will have a time jump.

Elordi and Zendaya will have hectic schedules in the coming year. The Saltburn star is set to lead in fresh adaptations of Wuthering Heights and Frankenstein. He is also rumoured to be in talks for Luca Guadagnino's remake of American Psycho.

On the other hand, Zendaya is currently filming for A24's forthcoming romance, The Drama, opposite Robert Pattinson and is reportedly set to star in Christopher Nolan's upcoming untitled film.

Euphoria is available to stream on Sky Atlantic in the UK, while fans in the US can catch up with the series on HBO.
