Christine McGuinness admits fear about dating again as she says 'it's scary'

Christine McGuiness and her husband Paddy McGuiness announced almost two years ago that they were going their separate ways

Christine McGuinness has opened up about dating again, admitting that being back on the market is "scary".

The TV star, 36, who split from husband Paddy in 2022, says she spent a long period of time after the break up trying to find happiness by herself.

But she is now looking for love again after deciding she is ready to share her life with another person again. She said: "I started dating in June, and it's the first time I've ever dated in my life, which is really scary. Even when I was younger I would end up seeing people I was already friends with.

"So going on dates with people you don't already know is brand new to me and I am doing that in my thirties for the first time. I avoided doing it for as long as possible because I know I am in no position to be in a serious relationship.

"I knew it was best to stay single and I was celibate for a long time. I had a long time being single and getting to know myself again. It was the best thing I could do because now I know I am happy on my own. I am independent. I can give myself everything I need.

"I've finally decided to start dating again because I now know I can be happy on my own. I know I don't need someone to make me happy but I would like to share my life with someone."

After ending her 11 year relationship with presenter Paddy, Christine has been linked to singer Chelcee Grimes and more recently DJ Roxxxan. And she said she has never been tempted to add her profile to a dating app, admitting she hears they are "awful."

She said: "I've never been on a dating app and I've never even looked at one thankfully, because I hear they are awful. I never say never but I don't need to at the moment thankfully. I'm lucky that I meet a lot of people through work and I am much more of an energy person."

Asked about Paddy's relationship status, she added: "Paddy is also dating. (But) it is not my business what he does. We have been separated for more than two-years now. We don't go into details or really discuss because we don't need to but we are respectful of each other.

"I don't need to know who he is with or where he is going. That is no longer my business and vice versa. Things will obviously change when one of us starts a relationship which will affect the children but neither of us are at that stage at the moment."
