Liam Gallagher 'excited' as rumours ramp up around his last solo gig this weekend

Rocker Liam Gallagher will hit the stage in Europe this weekend as he headlines the Malta Weekender, which will mark his last ever solo gig before the Oasis reunion tour

Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher is excited to get back on stage one final time as a soloist before reuniting with his brother next year.

The singer-songwriter, who patched things up with his brother Noel Gallagher earlier this year, has enjoyed a few weeks off in the wake of the big Oasis reunion being announced last month. But the former Beady Eye singer will be back on stage this weekend as he headlines Malta Weekender.

But as soon as he's wrapped things up on the Mediterranean, Liam will be focusing his attention solely on Oasis as the band prepare to perform together for the first time in almost two decades. The rock group will kick off their European tour at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales on 4th July 2025.

Discussing Liam's soloist swan song this weekend, a source close to the 51-year-old dad-of-four told the Mirror: "He's excited to get back onstage after a few weeks off and then he's off to Malta Sunday for his last gig of the year before getting his head firmly in Oasis territory."

It's rumoured that Liam could also belt a few Oasis tunes out in London before heading over to Malta, with it thought the Wonderwall hitmaker will be performing ahead of Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois' highly-anticipated fight. Anthony, the two-time heavyweight champion, 34, is gearing up to face 27 year old Daniel at the iconic Wembley Stadium this Saturday, vying for the IBF World Heavyweight Championship. A victory for Anthony would mark his third time as heavyweight world champion, allowing him to recapture the title he previously lost to Oleksandr Usyk in 2021.

But it's not just boxing fans who have something to look forward to music enthusiasts are also in for a treat. Earlier this year, it was revealed that Liam Gallagher will grace the event with his presence - and a performance. The announcement came before the buzz about an Oasis reunion sent fans into a frenzy for tickets.

Liam is expected to belt out three Oasis tracks at the match. While the exact songs remain under wraps, hints dropped a few months back suggest they'll be "classics" from the band's repertoire. An Instagram post from Liam's account hinted at the excitement: "September 21st, Liam will perform 3 Oasis classics at the Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois match at Wembley Stadium."

The Gallagher brothers, Liam and Noel, have been stirring up excitement with the possibility of a joint appearance at an upcoming boxing match. Just two weeks ago, it was hinted that Noel, 57, might join his brother Liam for a performance at the event. Speaking to talkSPORT, boxing official Turki Alalshikh expressed his hopes: "I hope so! It will be something amazing if we get them together." When quizzed about whether Noel had been approached, Turki added: "We will try. Why not? " However, there's no indication that Noel will actually attend or perform at the event.

It was confirmed last month that Oasis are set to embark on a UK and Ireland tour next year. Despite not having performed together since 2009, the brothers are reuniting for the Oasis Live '25 world tour after reconciling from years of public feuding. The band made an enthusiastic announcement stating: "The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised."

The tour promises to be a monumental event, with stops in Cardiff, Manchester, London, Edinburgh, and Dublin scheduled between July and August next year. These performances are billed as their only European shows for the year, making them some of the most anticipated live events and sought-after tickets of the decade.
